Well, at 11:56 today, Florida experienced something quite unusual as buildings swayed and people slowly started to get in touch with a little piece of 6.0 reality. We just don't do earthquakes here. The data is up at the USGS survery and I copied it below. From the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic we definitely felt the earth move.
Would like to hear feedback from anyone who experienced it.

I was inspired to look for daily polls to take and share on Tom Delay and found this intriguing editorial in the Abilene Reporter:Depleted uranium poses big health risk
September 30, 2005
''God is on our side.'' Does that mean he approves of what we are doing? Does that mean he approves of our use of depleted uranium against men women and children in Iraq? Does he approve of our depleted uranium destroying the health of our own military? Depleted uranium (DU) is the left-over portion of native uranium after the Uranium 235 is removed. It is the densest and hardest of all metals. Made into shells, it pierces tank armor, invades the interior, and bounces around inside, and burns into a radio-active dust. This dust is carried by winds into all of Iraq, affecting its civilians and our military. It becomes a weapon of ma ss destruction.
WASHINGTON - It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars to rebuild a city that's seven feet under sea level, House Speaker Dennis Hastert said of federal assistance for hurricane-devastated New Orleans.
"It looks like a lot of that place could be bulldozed," the Illinois Republican said in an interview Wednesday with The Daily Herald of Arlington, Ill.
Hastert, in a transcript supplied by the newspaper, said there was no question that the people of New Orleans would rebuild their city, but noted that federal insurance and other federal aid was involved. "We ought to take a second look at it. But you know we build Los Angeles and San Francisco on top of earthquake fissures and they rebuild too. Stubbornness."
Just got back from a week-end rally marking the 40th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. Despite the overcast skys and humidity, the crowds poured in instead of the rain. From the view my seat offered at Herndon Stadium at Morris Brown College,Atlanta, the site was rather impressive & historic as over 25,000 marchers entered the stadium in solidarity and support for the voting equality.
"Some of us -- hopefully most of us -- are trying to understand and appreciate the effect our recent election will have on you, the citizens of the rest of the world. As our so-called leaders redouble their efforts to screw you over, please remember that some of us -- hopefully most of us -- are truly, truly sorry. And we'll say we're sorry, even on the behalf of the ones who aren't."
I want to thank you for everything you've done over the course of this campaign. Time and time again we asked for your help, and you were always there for us.
Even though we didn't win back the White House, you created something historic. Our grassroots campaign of hope and optimism was unprecedented in American politics. More than 1 million volunteers made 11 million person-to-person, door-to-door contacts, and made 38 million phone calls to voter in battleground states.
If you were involved in these grassroots activities, we want to hear from you about your experience. What did you do? Did you feel the action you took was effective? Was it a good experience for you? How would you make it better?
This nasty tactic has now reached North Florida as well. We reported this disturbing practice of calling voters Gainesville, FL [Alachua County] and directing them to the wrong voting precinct. We found out about it when we went to pick-up our signs at Kerry-Edwards HQ in Gaineville about 9am. Called a friend asking him to call the local ABC affiliate, WCJB-TV 20 to check this out and to put a public information message and the station is on it! Whew!
"And as the campaign draws to a close, callers flooded the customer service phone lines at WPLG-Ch. 10 Saturday night after the station aired a half-hour block of Stolen Honor, a documentary attacking Kerry's service in Vietnam and his conduct after he returned from that war. Station Vice President and General Manager Dave Boylan said Newton Media, a Virginia-based company, bought three half-hour blocks to air portions of the documentary before the election." As 15,000 eager ticket holders ready themselves for Air Force One to touch down briefly at 11am on the tarmac of the local Gainesville airport for a brief appearance by Dubya, The Gainesville-Sun came out with an endorsement for John Kerry this morning adding to the sweep of Florida papers that have endorsed the Kerry/Edwards ticket. As I soothingly soaked my achin' feet after a Saturday of heavy precinct canvassing for Kerry/Edwards, I perused the newspaper and was hard pressed to find much mention of "the first sittin' president to grace our fair city" as the news of another loss for the Gators to Georgia, stole the spotlight This visit follows one by Cheney three weeks ago (he only met with 11 Gainesvillians at the local Harley dealership at the time - that was a strange visit) and, of course John Edwards weekend before last at UF and Elizabeth Edwards, this past Friday. My, my, my. All this attention to this bastion of Democrats in North Central Florida hasn't seem to change this city's resolve to "throw the bums out".
Oh my God..Felons are Voting!
[ We have a database to check on these things!]
"We believe this is simply the tip of the iceberg and there could be potentially additional felons who have registered," said Mindy Tucker Fletcher, spokesman for the Florida Republican Party."
[Howevah]
within hours of the Republicans' announcement came indications that the GOP list may suffer some of the same problems that caused Secretary of State Glenda Hood to scrap her controversial list of 47,763 suspected felon voters in July.
[OOPs...]
Reporters for the St. Petersburg Times quickly found two Tampa Bay area individuals on the GOP list who say they have had their voting rights restored.

"Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie said he was "disconcerted" by claims that supporters of Democratic challenger John Kerry are clogging early voting locations and attempting to dissuade backers of President Bush from voting.
"Some folks have been intimidated to the point where they turned away from the lines," Gillespie alleged.
Democrats dismissed Gillespie's accusation and said Republicans are the ones trying to keep Tuesday's turnout low. They pointed to a series of announcements in recent weeks by the Republican National Committee, calling them "empty fraud allegations" designed to suppress voting" http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041028/APP/410281427
Funny, here in Gainesville, Dem's are voting in droves..guess the opposition just doesn't like waiting in line.
